Now, for some of you, you will never have met Jesus or been changed by him. And what I want you to know is that you can have your eyes opened to Jesus!
And for others of you, this is precisely the change that has taken place, and I’m here to encourage and remind you that that was the best thing that ever happened to you.
All of us need to see that heaven is real, that though it may never look as dramatic as this, contact between heaven and earth happens all the time, and it’s all centred around this person, Jesus Christ. We all need to see that he is Lord, Jehovah, Yahweh.
You can imagine the headline in a newspaper supplement: I Was Totally Blind Until I Lost My Sight; Then I Could See. That was the case for Saul—in losing his sight physically, he began to see spiritually what was truth.
The other thing to say is this: be in no doubt about it—having our eyes opened to the Lord Jesus is traumatic for most, and at the very least, dramatic for all. That does not mean that it will happen in this space of 10 minutes, as it did for Saul, but it does mean that all of us will be radically affected if we come into contact with the Lord Jesus Christ. For Saul, it sent him into physical blindness and meant he was nil by mouth for three days. This would affect you.
