Trust the Bible Even When you Haven’t Got all the Answers
You’re not going to understand everything the Bible says. Just because it’s an authoritative book doesn’t mean you’re going to understand the whole thing. But just because you don’t understand it doesn’t mean it’s wrong.
We need to come to the Bible as a humble sinner. We need to really look into it, study, and ask the right questions carefully. That’s the other thing we learn from the Bereans.
The temptation is to come to the Bible thinking, “Well, there’s this seeming contradiction in the Bible, so it must be false.”
No. It’s authoritative, so it can’t be false. So, when you see something that you find difficult to understand in the Bible, don’t just say, “Ah, well, it must not be God’s Word.” Or “Ah well, I’ll go find some Christian online who agree with me.” No, just keep digging and keep investigating with your church family. Keep your ears open. And remember: this is God speaking, and you trust him.
There is a difference between saying, “I really don’t know what that’s all about,” and saying, “I really don’t think this is true.” One, hopefully, comes from a place of humility; another comes from a place of pride.
