The THIRD Use of the Law is the FIRST Most Important Use of the Law in the Christian Life
We sometimes talk about the third use of the law…
The primary use of the law is to convict of sin. The secondary use of the law is to restrain sin more generally. Then the third use of the law is that, as Christians, we should follow the law.
But the third use of the law does not mean it is the least important. As we look at the Ten Commandments, we need to see that this is a primary concern of the Christian life—it is our response to what Jesus has done for us. In keeping the law, we follow it to the letter—not in order to earn salvation, but in order to live for God in thankfulness.
