We need to acknowledge that the one who eats only vegetables, (and perhaps that’s you), Paul says that your faith is weak. We don’t say that to be pejorative; we honour even faith as small as a mustard seed, to quote the Lord Jesus. But it is important to acknowledge that that’s where you’re at (if that’s where you are!), that’s what the apostle Paul says: these kinds of decisions, not to eat vegetables, are coming from a place of weaker faith.
Beyond strengthening that faith, which we can come to another time, we have to know how to be with each other, acknowledging the reality that in our church (Alfred Place Baptist Church), there will be some with weak faith and some with strong faith—some who eat only vegetables and some who eat anything. We must obey the instructions of the apostle Paul.
We hope to have more and more people coming into our church from the world, so it’s likely there will be more and more vegans and vegetarians, or non-pork-eaters and other sacred diets, joining our church, so this is going to be something that we need to be more and more careful about.
