That’s why you have all these pictures in the Bible of what baptism is like. It’s like walking into the Red Sea, chased by your enemies, and coming out the other side of life with your enemies defeated. It’s like walking into a flooded earth but being rescued in the ark and coming out the other side alive, with everyone else destroyed. It’s like being thrown into the depths of the sea, but being rescued by a big fish and spat out alive, not dead. These are the pictures of baptism we have in the Bible. Jesus went down into the water to show us that he was willing to die for us and rise again for us. And he did die and rise again.
