Today, if you hear his voice, if you hear the voice of the Son, you have life. If you’re hearing his voice today, then you will hear his voice in the future, from your grave, you will rise from the dead, just as Jesus is risen from the dead.
And think about God. Realise that the Father has life in himself. He is totally self-sufficient and self-existent. But Jesus is the same. You cannot say, ‘Oh well, the Son was created.’ No, the Son too has life in himself.
There’s something unique about the Son in terms of his proceeding from the Father, and we don’t really fully understand it, of course, but we know it’s true. This is one who has been given authority by the Father to judge. This is one who is the Son of Man, the greatest name there is, with all authority given him by the Ancient of Days, God the Father almighty.
What we need to do is stand back in awe, worship Jesus, and make sure we’re believing in him.
