After John the Baptist saying ‘’Behold the Lamb of God” in John 1, the Apostle John returns to this theme just two chapters later. And the focus is definitely on the global power of this lamb…
John 3:16 tells us God sent his one and only Son because he loved the world so much.
In John 12, Jesus declares, “I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world.” There is—again—a clear global element here. This salvation is not limited to one ethnic group or a particular part of the world.
Similarly, in 1 John, the apostle writes not just about Jesus dying for the sins of a specific local church, but for the sins of the whole world. And again, in 1 John 4:14 he says, “The Father has sent his Son to be the Saviour of the world.”
Appreciate the international, wide-scale element of this Lamb of God’s saving work.
